Homelander - The Boys

Homelander, the iconic character from the hit series The Boys, is one of the most compelling and complex figures in modern storytelling. Brought to life through the chillingly brilliant performance of Antony Starr, Homelander embodies the dark side of heroism, showcasing traits like extreme narcissism, a relentless ego, and a disturbing sense of superiority. His character raises an unsettling question: what would happen if a being with superhuman powers had deeply flawed, even sociopathic, human qualities?

My motivation for creating this 3D model was driven by the captivating nature of Homelander’s character. Starr’s portrayal goes beyond mere acting; it’s an exploration of power unchecked and the fragility of a god complex in human form. As a 3D artist, translating this duality—the public image of a perfect hero versus the private reality of a deeply troubled individual—was both a challenge and a passion project. I aimed to capture the intensity in his gaze, the meticulously composed appearance, and the subtle hints of menace that hide beneath his patriotic facade.

Special thanks go to @sajadiii_amirhosein for his invaluable contribution to the detailing of the eyes, which truly bring life and depth to the character, and to @latif_fajrin for their expertise in grooming with Xgen, making the hair realistic and dynamic. Their collaborations added essential layers of detail that elevate this piece beyond a simple 3D render. I would also like to express my gratitude to @sefkiibrahim for his constant tips and the incredible effort he puts into creating some of the best workshops/tutorials I have ever followed.

Creating Homelander was not just an exercise in technical skill but an homage to one of television’s most intriguing antiheroes. The character’s flawed humanity, masked by his imposing superhuman abilities, serves as a sobering reminder of how power can corrupt and how charisma can disguise malevolence.
